About Me

I am a displaced New Yawker from Lawn Guyland living in Spotsylvania, Virginia. I moved at the same time as I retired from 30 years of teaching special education, a profession I loved.

I got my first cutting machine, a Cricut Personal in 2009 because I won a Super Bowl Pool and wanted to buy myself something I would not ordinarily spend money on. I learned a lot by watching videos by Creations with Christine and My Pink Stamper.

For the first 2 years, I used it only for scrapbooking. Then I read about how the Silhouette SD was s much better, so added that to my collection along with Studio Software and SCAL. When the original Cameo came out, I sold the SD and bought that and it is still what I have. I began seeing blogs showing people working in vinyl and did my first attempt with some leftover contact paper and was hooked.

I ordered $200 worth of 631 from HH Sign Supply and was on my way. No wall in school was free from signs and quotes.

Then came the fascination with fonts. Of course, the first was Samantha (Laura Worthington Type). When I bought it, it was not PUA coded and I discovered that I could use it with Corel Draw, a program that I already had.

With my retirement and move, came the changeover to a Mac from a PC and to Illustrator from Corel Draw. I decided I had to learn Illustrator more than just for fonts, so took an online course and began designing. My Etsy Shop grew from there and publishing tutorials on my Blog allow me to continue teaching, which is something I never wanted to give up.
